A warning is recently being circulated stating “if you have a computer connected to the Internet – READ IMMEDIATELY!!” While certain aspects contained in the warning are true, i.e. there really is a virus which was being spread which contained the subject line “Mail Server Report”, it is certainly not anything new.
If you read the reference to SNOPES at http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/mailserver.asp – and read the entire message, you will see that this virus started in October 2006. In March 2008, a new version which appears more of a hoax since it is warning of immenient danger, began circulating around the Internet. Read all of the message to fully understand why this is a hoax. However, you are always well advised never to open ANY attachment unless you are expecting to recieve it since it’s very easy to make an e-mail appear to come from someone or a business that you know and trust.
